TAI CHI AND QI GONG CANADA

A good tai chi or qi gong instructor can make a world of difference in your learning experience. Good teachers can help you understand, enjoy and appreciate the art in a way that is meaningful to you. Our goal is to groom and train good, qualified instructors, so they can help others enjoy and learn the beautiful art of tai chi and qi gong.

TAI CHI & QI GONG CANADA

Tai Chi & Qi Gong Canada has been established to train and certify quality Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructors. We have designed a graduated instructor certification program where you can progressively meet the requirements at each level, thereby achieving the skills and experience over a period of time. To get started, attend the free INFO SESSION held once a year.

INFO SESSION

This is a 1 hour session to learn about the Graduated Instructor Certification Program and the prerequisites for joining the program. The session is FREE and open to everyone.

Next session is scheduled for February 3, 2021 at 7:30 pm.

LEVEL ONE

Level one certified instructors can lead tai chi/qi gong classes where participants need SAFE and easy to follow tai chi/qi gong movements as part of their health program.

Prerequisites

  • Tai Chi instructors need to have at least 50 hours of advance tai chi training.
  • Qi Gong instructors need to have at least 40 hours of qi gong practice.

Certification

  • Complete the Level One instructor training course.
  • Pass a written knowledge test.
  • Pass a practical video exam achieving proficiency level 1.
LEVEL TWO

Level two certified instructors can lead classes where participants need clear and ACCURATE demonstration of tai chi forms or qi gong sets.

Prerequisites

  • Tai Chi instructors need to have at least 100 hours of advance tai chi training.
  • Qi Gong instructors need to have at least 80 hours of qi gong practice.

Certification

  • Complete the Level Two instructor training course.
  • Pass a written knowledge test.
  • Pass a practical video exam achieving proficiency level 2.
LEVEL THREE

Level three certified instructors can teach classes where participants LEARN moves from a Tai Chi form or Qi Gong set and FOLLOW the instructor for practice.

Prerequisites

  • Tai chi instructors need to have at least 200 hours of advance tai chi training and 2 semesters of teaching experience as a level 2 instructor.
  • Qi gong instructors need to have at least 120 hours of qi gong practice and 2 semesters of teaching experience as a level 2 instructor.

Certification

  • Pass a written knowledge test.
  • Pass a practical video exam achieving proficiency level 3.
  • Complete the level 3 instructor course.
  • Pass the in-class teaching exam demonstrating proficiency with the SIMPLE teaching model.
LEVEL FOUR

Level four is only applicable to Tai Chi Instructors.

Level four certified instructors can teach classes where participants LEARN moves for an entire traditional Tai Chi form and can practice on their own.

Prerequisites

  • Accumulated 2 semesters of observation under a Master instructor.
  • Accumulated 3 semesters of teaching experience as a level 3 instructor.

Certification

  • Pass the practical video exam achieving proficiency level 4.
  • Complete the level 4 instructor course.
  • Pass the in-class teaching exam demonstrating proficiency with the ADVANCE teaching model.

  • A single 45 minute training session
  • Add $10 per certification (Qi Gong, Tai Chi)

  • Add $20 per certification (Qi Gong, Yang style, Chen style, etc.)
